GOLD AWARD winner at the Queenstown Art Show, October 2026.
The dark exterior suggests strength and wholeness. Hidden, tiny copper figures quietly carry and place pieces of material, repairing what cannot be seen from the outside.
Description
What they represent is intentionally left open. The small acts of care that help us heal may come from many places and often happen without us even realising it.
Light emerges from below, casting shadows onto the wall and revealing another layer of the work.
I want my Textured Lightworks to be experienced first through their visual presence, then through discovery. What appears to be simple from a distance can hold much more when you look closer.
For me, in this transformation, I’m taking something ordinary and revealing its potential, elevating it into something unexpected, beautiful and sophisticated.
Delicately hand-formed and layered with natural textures, this piece cradles warm, golden light (or multi coloured) that glows from within. When lit, it casts intricate patterns across the walls, like flickering memories or the light filtering through leaves. There’s something soothing about it, calming, grounding, yet full of movement and life.
Whether placed on a bookshelf, side table, or nestled in a quiet corner, Healing - Whakaroa creates a moment. A moment to pause, to breathe, to just be.
This is one of only two Black Sculptural Light pieces from my Textured Lightworks series. Others have already found their forever homes, gifted or collected. No two will ever be the same. Enquire below if you would like to order a piece.

Colour Variation Disclaimer
Colours may vary between my original artwork and the photos displayed on my website. While I strive to accurately capture and represent the colours of my art through photography, it is important to note that variations can occur due the lighting conditions during photography, the settings on different devices used to view the website, and even the individual monitor calibration can all contribute to slight differences in colour reproduction. I make every effort to ensure the closest possible match between the original artwork and the images displayed online, but it is advisable to consider these potential variations when making a purchase decision.
I encourage viewers and potential buyers to reach out to me via the product enquiry form below if you have any questions or concerns regarding the colours of my artwork.
